Oscar Nominations 2015 #OscarSoWhite
Oscar Nominations 2015 #OscarSoWhite spells trouble for Oscar telecast. In 2014 The 86th Academy Awards set a ratings record as 43.7 million people tuned in to watch the ABC telecast. One of the top films and the one that took home Best Picture was "12 Years A Slave" which was about a free black man who was captured and enslaved for 12 years during the late 1800s and a true story. The other well-regarded movie was The Butler starring Forest Whitaker and financed in part by Oprah Winfrey. In 2015 The Academy ignored black films and black talent. And sparked a Twitter rage shown in the hashtag #OscarSoWhite. Thus I predict that the 2015 telecast of the 87th Academy Awards will show a ratings dive that will set the gains made back five years. That is sad. But it will happen. Stay tuned.
